About this deal

The build and the bunk beds alone were funny enough, but the addition of this play feature, was such a brilliant surprise that really tied the entire set together for me. On the ground floor is a small counter and chairs, which have plates of waffles and red mugs for the Elves to eat.

The Elf Club House is part of a collection of LEGO model building kits for adults who love clever design and detailed scenes. And, of course, this model makes a great Christmas present for your loved ones. This just filled me with so much joy about how random this is, yet it fits the overall playful theme of this set so well. The Elf Clubhouse joins 2014’s Santa’s Workshop and last year’s Gingerbread House as a fantasy-themed expansion of LEGO’s beloved Winter Village theme, which is a personal favourite of mine. It’s honestly incredible just how fun this is, especially since this was created without any complex mechanism or parts. Say hello to the 2020 LEGO Winter Village set – 10275 Elf Club House, the perfect addition to your Christmas LEGO display.

The use of studs embedded into the tree itself works remarkbly well visually, and I love the feeling of discovering and building each year’s Christmas tree. The final bit of building is putting together the chimney. Rather than just another rehash of a wood-burning hearth, we get something entirely new. Thanks to a bit of clever LEGO engineering, there’s a plinko-like mechanism to cook waffles! I’ve left the front off of it here so you can see the setup. You’ll get to see it in action below. The mechanism for the oven works smoothly and seems nearly impossible to jam. It can be a little messy, though. Maybe that’s why that elf looks so unhappy: there’s some quality time with a mop in their near future. At over 8.5” (22cm) high and 5” (13cm) deep, this building set for adults and families makes an impressive Christmas present or secret Santa gift idea with a display model to enjoy year after year.

This is a minor, minor gripe, and has been a problem forever, but I really dislike the colour bleeding from the Elf hat onto their ears. If you’re a Ghostbusters fan, we’ve got just the thing for you – the LEGO Ghostbusters ECTO-1 car, a LEGO model car kit for adults! Bust the stress out of everyday life and indulge in some quality me-time as you build a LEGO version of the converted 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor ambulance based on the Ghostbusters: Afterlife movie. The ECTO-1 Ghostbusters car features working parts: a trapdoor, a ghost trap, an extending seat, plus cool details from the original car, such as the iconic Ghostbusters logo. There’s a candy cane pole hanging outside the front, with directions to Santa’s Workshop, and the North Pole. The use of the LEGO Movie 2 stars as the umm, star that adorns the tip of the Christmas tree is also a great choice, although it seems a teensy bit oversized for the tree. There's a few things that will make a LEGO set a must have for me. One of those things is Christmas. I'm one of those annoying people who loves Christmas more than caring about whether my family want to watch a Hallmark Christmas movie in July. Christmas music hits my playlists early November, decorations go up the weekend after Thanksgiving. Part of those decorations is my collection of Christmas LEGO. This year I may need to convince my wife to get a second table because my collection is getting too big for my allotted corner.

What's in the box

The Reindeer pulls a small basic sleigh, which has pearl gold embellishments which contrast nicely against the red and white. If you’re looking to recreate the cozy feeling of your favorite Christmas memories, we’ve got the perfect thing for you – the LEGO® Elf Club House (10275). It’s the ideal way to enjoy quality time with a sugar-sweet DIY project. Build the intricately detailed Elf Club House then explore all its merry features. It's the most wonderful time of the year...Obviously I'm talking about the release of the next Winter Village set. The Winter Village sets are probably the biggest factor for coming out of my dark ages. I tend to like the more realistic ones so for a second year in a row I'm uncertain on how keen I am on the fantasy subject matter. Last year's Gingerbread House won me over, let's see if the Elf Club House can do the same (spoiler alert, my Christmas addiction probably means it will!) Contents: The Set

I really love the new LEGO Reindeer, and I wish they had included another one, so I’ll be hoping we see it used in future LEGO sets to make the most of this utterly gorgeous mould. This year’s design is a breath of fresh air, and I love the use of 2 x 1 cutout wedges to give the tree its angled shape and sense of texture. Explore your favorite family Christmas traditions with this delightful building challenge. Build the quaint Elf Club House (10275) then explore all its cozy holiday details as you unwind with this hands-on project. Final thoughts: The LEGO Elf Club House is a worthy addition to the Winter Village, and is a solid follow-up to last year’s Gingerbread House. The LEGO Reindeer is an absolutely great addition, and a must-have for any Winter Village. I really, really wish LEGO had bumped the price up slightly to accommodate for another reindeer, or a few more Elves. The first instruction booklet covers the first two bags of parts, and includes everything that isn’t part of the club house structure itself. It has the Christmas tree, a selection of gifts, a sleigh, a scarf-wearing elf and Brixen. These builds don’t really interact with the club house at all, so it could be a good opportunity to share the work around with a bit of family building. You know, if this set wasn’t meant just for adults. (I’m almostdone complaining about that.) Only two of the faces have dual expressions, which is okay, but not great. As noted above, having a “sleeping” option for at least three of these characters would have been a nice enhancement. Here’s how it works, you press the lever, and a waffle gets dropped into a pan, which you can then tip out.

Bag 4: Last years Gingerbread House set an incredibly high bar for roof design, one that is unlikely to ever be beaten. But the Elf Club House gives it a good try. It has some steep, dramatic slopes that aren't often seen in LEGO houses, and as long as you can look past the small gap where the roof sections join, you'll love the final look, especially the curvy edges. It would have been so easy to design this with the straight edge but the designer took that specific step to add depth to the roofline. The main roof section is also held on by so little it's a complete mystery to me how it seems so solid and secure. Elf Club House will be available from LEGO.com on 23 September onwards from LEGO.com or your local LEGO store. There are no names afforded to the Elves, although the “leader” can be inferred by the red scarf. They have all sorts of cheery expressions on their face, which is exactly what you’d expect from indentured magical creatures.

I love how incredibly simple, yet poignant this design is, especially for us oldies who may remember actually using a desktop computer like this. The Elves have a tendency of sleeping in and being lazy, which is why the leader, Galadriel is equipped with a megaphone to wake them up. The breakfast nook is cute, but in action it again makes you question the ergonomics of the club house. Since the elf minifigures have short, non-articulated legs, they have to stand on the chairs instead of sitting. That’s an understandable compromise, but due to the height of the table, plates, and mug, you have to raise the figures arms to almost comical heights to get them to fit into the space. And just forget trying to get two elves to have a bite at the same time. You’re probably better off just putting all the elves in other areas of the club house when you display things. Last year, in my review of set Gingerbread House, I spoke a little about Winter Village sets and Christmas LEGO in general.
