About this deal

These include running water, a dog barking, an appliance beeping, snoring, a baby crying, and coughing. In the meantime, if you want the fun and somewhat helpful features of the LED display, the fifth-gen Echo Dot with Clock is the Alexa smart speaker to get. High-definition audio Enjoy an improved audio experience for clearer vocals, deeper bass and vibrant sound in any room.

If music quality means a lot to you, and you're not impatient, the bigger Echo is worth waiting for.I’m an ISF-certified TV calibrator and a THX-certified home theater professional, and I’m here to help you understand 4K, HDR, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, and even 8K (and to reassure you that you don’t need to worry about 8K at all for at least a few more years). It uses Eero’s TrueMesh software technology, tapping into the dual-band Wi-Fi radios in the speakers to find the strongest connection and then extend it. Enjoy an improved audio experience compared to any previous Echo Dot with Alexa for clearer vocals, deeper bass and vibrant sound in any room.

My other preferred bedside table smart speaker is the second-gen Google Nest Hub (the one without a camera).I toggled it on and initially got a warning that the Dot was too close to an Eero and would not extend anything. They say it works well, has increased functionality over previous models, and has all the features they need. it’s one of those options you don’t think you need but would really miss it once you have one and use it regularly. You might even like the subdued look if you're tired of staring at bright, glowing speakers throughout your home.

If you are new to Alexa you will have to download and setup the Alexa app, which is also intuitive and easy to set up. CHECK THE TIME AND MORE AT A GLANCE - The improved LED display shows you the time, alarms, weather, song titles and more. As one of the best smart speakers for a bedroom, the Echo Dot with Clock sounds good … for its size. When the track fully kicks in, the bassline, drums, guitar strums, and vocals all share attention fairly evenly.

Power consumption tends to be pretty low for speakers, but can add up particularly for mains-powered speakers you have plugged in a lot of the time. I certainly heard more nuance in Jimmy Cliff’s “I Can See Clearly Now,” with the collection of reggae instruments sounding distinct. Its auto dimming feature is great with regards to the clock, which in itself is a great addition to the dot series. Fill your home with music using compatible Echo devices in different rooms, create a home theater system with Fire TV.

But it's useful to have some visual screen over the standard Echo Dot; I can't see myself going back to the legacy design. Check the time and more at a glance: the improved LED display shows you the time, alarms, weather, song titles and more. The new temperature sensor can tell you the temperature in the room (and show you on the display) as well as trigger Alexa Routines. The idea was to run a Routine that reads the weather and my calendar and then plays NPR in the morning when the shower starts, but the Routine would start playing at the smallest tinkle of running water (if you know what I mean). But the latest Echo Dot with Clock’s display has added useful visuals for the weather and song titles and more.
