About this deal

I’m not sure what age range this book falls into but the writing style is a little young in the words and the pacing but at some points the actions do not match this younger age style. You bet your ass it is, and this sadness is a dark cloud that hangs over the events of the book and feels almost inescapable, thanks in no small part to the book’s dedication, as Adiba nobly pays her respects to those souls, the ones we’ve lost the last few years.

But careless mistakes, old grudges and new romances threaten to jeopardise everything they've worked towards.Emilie could tell the others were on board when Josefa had pulled the three of them into her bedroom. Like I don't need Hinnah to be a champion of modest fashion, but I don't get what argument was supposed to be here.

Perfect for fans of Stalking Jack the Ripper and Girl in the Blue Coat, this high-seas heist from the author of The Henna Wars is an immersive story that makes readers forget one important detail—the ship sinks.

Josefa – whose love for women and unwillingness to submit to a man cost her the security of family – wants enough to live on her own terms. It's such an implausible origin story that her Pakistani parents saw their 12-year-old daughter with a boy in her room and decided to throw her out. There’s Josefa, the planner and pickpocket who masterminded the heist; Emilie, an artist whose forgeries get them onto the ship; charismatic Violet, who can talk her way out the tightest of corners; and Hinnah, a brave young acrobat willing to break and enter. There’s so many statistics involved with the Titanic, big numbers create big numbers after all, and if you’re like me, as you’re making your way through the story, facing an ever-dwindling page count, the direness of the situation starts to set in. A Million to One is about the power of sisterhood, the magic that happens when we connect across difference, and what it means to be an outsider.

Josefa's breezy confidence and Violet's steadfast resolve mix appealingly with Emilie's naïveté and Hinnah's wistfulness.

Every O’Neill guest has their reasons, a story as to how they found themselves stagnate at not quite the end of the road, but pretty damn close.
