About this deal

Use the small peeler on the side for peeling off the ginger skin, the grating plate of the Microplane Ginger 3-in-1 tool features 140 tiny ultra sharp blades perfect for grating and capturing all the aromatic flavours and juices of the ginger pulp.

The grater is also dishwasher safe, a bonus for busy kitchens where usage of this product would be high. By contrast, the zester-grater (which was also brand-new) left a pile that was definitely more wet and mushy. To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. The ergonomic handle combined with the strength of the blade makes this tool a fantastic choice for professional and domestic chefs. The only flaw I could find was with the small plastic protrusion that’s intended for peeling the root.

I use mine regularly, but over the past few months, I've found myself reaching for a new style of Microplane grater: the 3-in-1 ginger tool. Made in USA, the tiny teeth behave like sharp knives, cutting ingredients with precision rather than tearing them. Wonderfully situated in Wychbold near Droitwich, West Hagley near Stourbridge, Cheltenham and also Millets Farm in Oxfordshire, Webbs is a family business committed to providing the very best for your garden and home. What remains is, depending on the amount, a unique sharpness in flavor which is a wonderful seasoning for many dishes. The slicer works like a miniature Japanese mandoline—an angled blade on the end shaves the ginger into paper thin rounds (or longer planks if you shave it from the side). Our two favorites were the fastest, producing 1 tablespoon of puree in just 15 seconds; both had etched holes. The mission of America’s Test Kitchen Reviews is to find the best equipment and ingredients for the home cook through rigorous, hands-on testing.

Also easy to storage with its long, ultra-flat and compact design, and a loop to hang it up if needed. It’s true that ceramic graters are fantastic at turning fibrous roots like ginger and wasabi into a puree.

My experience with this is that the fibrous part mostly remains on the piece I’m grating so only the soft pulp and juice are in the dish. The stainless-steel ginger graters are also ideal, as the flat surface is easier to press down on and move quicker in a safe way. I also don’t love how the edges along the back are curled over, so I can’t just swipe down the length of it to remove the ginger clinging to the back.

When grating the ginger with the coarse blade, the texture is slightly stronger and is great for smoothies, homemade ginger lemon soda or freshly brewed ginger tea. You can also grate the fresh and the frozen ginger with our ribbon and extra coarse blade for bigger ginger pieces, use those in chutneys, curries, jams, or make stews or Asian dishes to create a spicy taste experience. So with ceramic graters there’s a risk of using too much ginger in recipes (though admittedly that’s not really a bad thing in my book). The Microplane Ginger 3-in-1 Tool takes care of peeling, grating and slicing ginger all in one tool.Freshly grated ginger is a common component of recipes both sweet and savory, lending its distinctive aroma to cookies, cakes, and chutneys as well as stir-fries, glazes, sauces, and soups.
